Angela Koh’s wedding took place at the dreamy Buttermilk Falls Inn in Milton, New York, where she married Sammy Shubbar on August 13, 2022. And it was a fashion girl’s wedding through and through—with a custom Molly Goddard dress, Margiela Tabis, and a suit from The Row included!

Still, choosing her wardrobe for the big day and all the events surrounding it wasn’t a challenge for Koh, a fashion editor at T Magazine. In fact, she did it all without the typical Pinterest boards, even though part of her wished she saved images for tablescape references. “Researching and being decisive is part of my job, so it all went relatively quick,” she says. “My dress, I knew I wanted the moment I saw Molly Goddard release her bridal collection, which I ordered directly from the atelier.” In the midst of the pandemic, Koh was supposed to visit Molly Goddard’s atelier for a fitting in London but the Omicron surge threw a wrench in the plans. “We had to do a virtual fitting where my husband patiently took my measurements with the atelier’s guidance. It was quite cute,” she says.

When it came down to shopping the rest of her wedding wardrobe, Koh searched high and low for her must-haves. Her suit from The Row was a sample sale find, while her husband’s Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane Suit was sourced on eBay and she found her bridesmen’s Prada suits from the Prada outlet. “I’m always looking for a good deal, so my favorite place to shop, wedding wardrobe or not, is a sale,” she says. “I got my suit and a baby blue satin bag from The Row sample sale.”

The finishing touch was something highly unique and extremely personal—a Korean hair accessory from Etsy: “My binyeo was for my traditional Korean hairstyle, an idea that sparked when seeing my Molly Goddard wedding dress. It had a similar silhouette to a Hanbok.”

“The Row has such high-quality garments,” says Koh. “A suit from them will last a lifetime and more. The cut of the suit was almost perfect, I barely had to get it tailored. And it’s something I can re-wear to the office.”

“The fashion girl in me loves Tabis. Margiela first came out with its Tabis in the ’80s, referencing the split-toe shoe that originated in Japan in the 15th century. It’s another item I can wear in my everyday life.”

“The binyeo–a traditional Korean hairpin–was a way to celebrate my heritage on this special day. Mine was made of silver, jade, and opal and adorned with flowers which complemented our beautiful arch.”
