With the not-so-springy weather we’re experiencing in New York, over here at Vogue we’re looking forward to jumping straight into summer. With a new season on the horizon, our editors are already planning their summer wardrobes and contemplating which statement items or summer 2023 trends they want to add to their roster of warm-weather wears. We’re shopping for pieces to be worn on those cherished summer Friday weekends and holidays spent out of the office. We’re equally excited about what we’ll be wearing for our summer in the city—caftans and swimsuits in exquisite prints, dip-dye skirts, sandals with wedged heels or fisherman straps, and raffia accessories of all kinds.

Sunset Hues
Summer is finally here, and I’ve never been more thrilled to leave the drab, cloudy, and chilly NYC weather behind! This summer will be all about sunset hues for me. A Retro Aesthetic
Each summer, even if I have no plans to be in Italy, I douse myself in Pucci and Missoni. And with the recent-ish appointment of a new creative director at Emilio Pucci (Camille Miceli), it feels as though a breath of fresh air has swept through the storied Italian fashion house known for its prints. Summer-in-the-City Sandals
When it comes to summer footwear, I love a closed-toe sandal. Be it a fisherman or a cutout or backless loafer, it’s the perfect shoe for every summer occasion that doesn’t require being barefoot. They’re easier to wear for traveling, a safer bet for city sidewalks, and a polished option for the office when you’re in need of a pedicure. I’ve been gravitating toward flowy, asymmetrical silhouettes for summer—pieces that are a bit unexpected but don’t feel too overdone. I can already envision this Acne Studios wrap skirt at a beach barbeque out east or paired with a spaghetti-strap tank for a night out in the city. Colorful Ballerinas
When I was younger, I used to wear flats all the time—it was the early ’00s, and I had a Marc by Marc obsession like the rest of us gals. Lately I’ve been feeling that same pull again—likely the effect of Prada’s fall 2023 collection, which I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. I keep getting served a Mansur Gavriel ad on Instagram that’s heavily influencing me, and I admit I’ve also moseyed on over to the Repetto website to check out their wares. Dip-Dye Skirts
I bought a vintage cotton Prada midiskirt before a trip to Mexico last fall with orange and pink tie-dye, and I can’t wait to wear it on a regular basis come summer. Despite being a modest midi-length silhouette, the color dye exudes a laid-back attitude I love for summer. I’ll wear it with a button-down shirt or tee during the week and with flip-flops and a bikini top on weekends. These colorful skirts are popping up from a handful of brands this season—making me ask myself, Do I need another? —M.F.

White Poplin Pieces
This year spring has felt nearly nonexistent, so I’m very excited for the summer season to finally arrive in full force. I’m looking to embrace crisp white shirting as spotted at spring 2023 runways from Peter Do to Valentino. I’ll be styling these with a sleek denim skirt—this Dodo Bar Or one in a patchwork style gives it an unexpected twist. —J.T.
