Exciting news! Our good buddies from Toronto’s Make Your Exit have released their video for their song “Leave This Town”. See if ya notice anyone familiar (there might be a modernboy or two in the audience).
The video was directed by Eric Weber, a super-talented fella out in Vancouver. He’ll be shooting the first ever Modernboys Moderngirls video this fall which we’ll have more news about soon.
In the meantime, check out the new Make Your Exit video on AUX TV:
Aux TV uploaded their NXNE 2010 review which included the Audioblood Rooftop Party featuring Hollerado and their famous nachos with broccoli (strange topping we know; their very valid explanation was it was on sale at the supermarket)
You’ll see Akira here for a split-second talking about buildings collapsing and nacho salvation.
Wow. That’s it. One word I think sums up that evening. Last Friday, was an unbelievable amount of fun, an astonishing amount of talent on stage, a frenzied and dance-crazy crowd, just a great night from start to finish. We’re gonna post up pics from the evening soon – but just want to send out a thank you to everyone who came, everyone who helped, everyone who performed and was left soaking in blissful sweat by night’s end.
The most common thing we heard all night was “we’ll have to do that again”.
Count on it.
Lots of love,
Modernboys Moderngirls
(Akira, Brett, Juan)
Check out a fan video of “La Bamba” closing out the night with basically everyone on stage.
We are so damn excited about this party. We’ll be playing all night with a great cast of musicians and pumping out the songs of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Bo Diddley, Dion & The Belmonts – the list goes on and on. It’s at the Garrison, Friday July 16. Put your best 50s dress or jeans on and make sure your shoes can put up with lots of dancing.
DJ Reverend Throwdown and DJs Tyypos will also be knocking out tunes between band sets.
Back from S.C.E.N.E. Festival this weekend, we’ll be at the Horseshoe this Wednesday to play with our buddy Owen Carrier and his band Sweet Thing. If you haven’t heard them yet, they are a great dance-rock band that’s putting out a full-length this summer on EMI. Also on the bill is Universal Music’s San Sebastian from Hamilton, Ontario.
Show starts at 8.30 p.m. – get there early to catch our set as we’re opening this one.
Modernboys Moderngirls have nearly completed recording 7 new songs which will be ready for mixing by the end of the month. 3-4 new songs are on deck to be recorded in September. This collection of songs are planned to be eventually releases as the band's second album but MBMG plan on putting out a series of 7 inches before putting out the full album. A video for the fall is also in the works.
